Have you ever heard “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood? Ever wonder how they manage to make the guitar sound like it slides up? You guessed it! They use a slide!
What does a slide do?
With a slide it sounds more like the notes are sliding up, rather than hearing every single semitone. (In this case fret, or half step) Instead of having the guitar frets shorten the strings to their set length, you can play every pitch in-between.
This is an advantage for smoother sounds instead of hearing every semitone. The disadvantage is that if you aren’t listening you can play slightly sharp or flat because you’re not using the frets.
Recommended for more advanced players, but is a must have for anyone interested in guitar!
